Casting slab under stove 20mm thick
Hello
I am considering casting a slab under our cast iron stove as a spark guard and to compensate for the height against the surrounding parquet.
I'm wondering if it's sufficient to cast with fine concrete, or do I need to add reinforcement?
If so, which one?
I know there is fiber-reinforced self-leveling compound, could that be an alternative instead, considering the slab will be quite thin, and thereby avoid extra reinforcement?
Jocke

any suggestions??
Unfortunately, I have forgotten the name, but there is a type of board that you use against, for example, mustocken to not have anything combustible against it. It is sold in standard sheet sizes (1200x2400), and the thickness I looked at was 12 mm. Couldn't you just lay double of those under the stove? It would save a lot of work!
Do you mean Minerit? http://www.beijerbygg.se/templates/BB_Produkt.aspx?id=35491Bödde said:Unfortunately, I have forgotten the name, but there is a type of board that you use against, for example, the timber wall to not have anything flammable against it. I would probably lay Minerit and then tiles.
How large is the area and what kind of substrate are you planning to cast on?
I assume it works well with fiber-reinforced self-leveling compound if the substrate is "dead."
