More than 100kg outdoor unit can easily fit on and be supported by a couple of leca blocks/garden slabs. It doesn't need to be overworked.

The advantage of laying several slabs is that it provides a bit better drainage for rainwater and snow. If I only cover it with gravel, it won't be worse than before.

New weekend, new work shift! Started digging today. There was just gravel on top, then only sand. How much should one actually dig out? This has probably been here for 20 years so it's a bit compacted but still easy to dig in. Conveniently, the drain for the downspout is also here. One could have been extra fancy here and attached a pipe somehow that then protruded under the pump.
It was a close call. I think the measurements were poorly communicated. I asked and received confirmation of the measurements, but the stand is larger. And additionally, space was needed for the connections. Had I known, I would have made it larger.
