Hello,

I am going to replace the swing gate with a regular exterior door in a basement garage. The walls are made of concrete hollow blocks.

The tasks needed are:
1. Remove the old gate
2. Seal it off with Leca/concrete hollow blocks
3. Install the door
4. Plaster inside and outside

Should I look for a carpenter or a mason for this?
What do you think it will cost?

The most beautifully and quickly built will be with a mason, but they might not want to tear down the gate and install the door.
A carpenter can build and plaster but not at the same high level as a mason, yet they are willing to do everything.

Thinking a bit about installing the door myself.

I guess it's just about using plugs, driving in frame screws, and sealing with foam sealant.

Should something be placed between the threshold and the concrete?

Is it an old basement with an uninsulated slab? In that case, you can put some syllpapp under the threshold.

I wouldn't use foam sealant, used frame sleeves,
I want tar paper under the threshold if the slab is level.

Yep. Old uninsulated slab.

What do you use to fill the gap between the frame and the concrete? You need to plaster the frame a bit to make it look nice.

I just want regular drev
