Can't find studs in the exterior wall
I am planning to put up a wall bar on the inside of an exterior wall and thought of mounting a board (plywood or MDF) that I screw into the wall's studs and then screw the wall bar into the board. The problem is that I can't find any studs in the wall, neither horizontal nor vertical. I've tried tapping and listening and also using a Zircon stud finder. The house is a wooden house and this exterior wall in particular was built in 2016 (before I bought the house, so I don't know the wall's construction). Could it be that there is already some wood board instead of or behind the drywall that "hides" the studs from the stud finder?
And is a single board enough for the wall bar or should I use planks instead between the wall bar and the wall?
How would you do it?

The studs are probably set at about 60 cm from the edge of the room, but there may also be horizontal 45 cm studs inside the load-bearing studs that form an installation layer.
If you don't need to protect the wall against wear with a board and just want to mount the ribbed chair, I would place a stud at the top and bottom between the wall's studs and attach the ribbed chair to that stud. If possible, it would look nicer to recess the "mounting stud" in the ribbed chair.

A modern wall construction is typically built with three layers of studs. The innermost, then vertical at least 145 mm deep, and then outermost laid horizontally again. If the interior cladding consists of OSB plus drywall, it might be difficult to tap to find them. I think you should be able to measure your way to the horizontal studs on the inside. Assume that there is a stud closest to the floor and that the c/c distance is 600 mm. There is a possibility that the wall is built in panels, and then the construction might be a bit different. This should be evident from the house plans. MDF is not a good material from a strength point of view. Plywood is better. Pine plywood is more attractive than K-plywood, but you can always paint it.
If it is a stud wall, you can use a magnet to find the covered screw heads in the wall, where you also have the studs. If you want, you can then drill two 8-10 mm holes 4-5 cm apart (next to the studs, don't drill deeper than through the panel material), shine a light through one hole and peek through the other. After doing this, you should have a pretty good understanding of the wall.
