Grateful if anyone can give their perspective and opinion on solution choices.

We have a log house where we are currently laying new floor joists and subfloor. The floor joists sometimes end up below the sill log, sometimes a bit up on the sill log, but always a bit down on the foundation stones. The foundation stones also protrude inside the sill logs at times. Thus, it's difficult to attach joist hangers or other good fastenings to the walls. Instead, we have chosen to set up two support walls that take the load from the floor, then only place simpler support against the wall/sill for the floor joists.

The problem: The outermost floor joists are 30cm in from the wall because the foundation stones stick out. On one wall, I can place a 45x45 timber directly on the wall, which could support the floor, but on the other side, the floor will be level with the top of the foundation stones. Is there a good way to fix a timber/support to the foundation stone? Is it an option to drill into the foundation stones and attach the timber with a sill insulation in between? Other solutions I might have overlooked?

If I manage to attach timbers on both sides, do I really want to lay the floor all the way up to the log wall? I plan to add insulation (45mm) on the inside of the log frame, which means I'll have a wall where the floor goes under, something that feels like a really foolish solution if in the future the floor needs to be lifted/changed. I see two options regarding floor laying. Option 1: a solid 45mm floor that would then end up entirely under the wall. Option 2: a layer of tongue and groove flooring that could slide under the wall, and then a thinner wooden floor that lies outside the wall.

Or should I try to find a solution with floor support about 45 cm inside the log wall and then framed all the way down to the floor joists for the wall?

I would gratefully appreciate all tips and ideas.

Hi. How did it go for you? I'm in a similar situation right now, and it would be interesting to see how you handled it.
