wondering if it is possible to plaster over my mexitegel fireplace, I have a feeling it will come off... if you have experience with this, let me know,

It might work with B-bruk. Otherwise, you have to use plaster mesh. Then it will definitely work.

what is b use?

B-bruk is a plaster with a maximum grain size of 3mm. It is most often used when plastering at least 5mm thick. If you need to plaster thinner, c-bruk will work.

Check out http://www.finja.se

There you will find tips and descriptions of the different types of plaster.

A-C usually indicates the cement content in the mortar, not the coarseness of the aggregate, as I have been taught.

The reason I wrote that b-bruk has a maximum grain size of 3mm is because there will be "swirls" in the plaster if you plaster at 2mm. Good to know if you plan to plaster thinly.

Gutte, does A-C indicate the cement content or the aggregate gradation or some combination of both factors?

A-C indicates how strong the mortar is. A is the strongest, C the weakest. C-mortar contains more lime than, for example, B-mortar. There are C-mortars with aggregates 0-1 and 0-3. 0-1 is fine mortar and is used for slamming and fine finishing. All of this is very well described at Finja.

I'm currently rendering with mortar and plaster C (aggregate 0-3), it results in a rather coarse surface.

As for the mexitegel, I don't know. Just that the plaster should be weaker than the wall. (the mexitegel, is it built with mortar?)

Boussard got there first ;)

As mentioned, check Finja's website or call them if there are any doubts regarding plaster on concrete tiles. They have excellent customer service.

But I would assume that if you want a smooth, fine surface, use C-bruk with 0.1 aggregate.

hello everyone.. have missed your posts. Just bought 100 kg of b-bruk! have I messed up then? :-/

No, it's not certain. It somewhat depends on the type of surface you want and how "hard" you want the surface to be. But call Finja and ask.

Don't forget to wet the brick before you start plastering; the plaster won't stick otherwise... Use the water hose and make sure the brick is well wet, otherwise, you risk large chunks coming off when you tap on the plaster...

Good luck
Regards
Anna
