I'm thinking about building a garbage roof. They are common here in Finland, like this one I thought of at first:
But I started to wonder if one could be built from bricks instead of wood... It would be quite unique. At least the walls could be made of bricks.
I have a slab that I poured several years ago where the garbage bins stand, the intention was to build a garbage roof but it just never happened. But I'm wondering about the bricks... Thinking of ordinary red bricks to build with, I know they don't like water and frost, I had several bricks outside last winter that I used elsewhere and several of them broke into small pieces from the frost.
So how should one do it, should I lay a layer with something else as a base, like leca, or some other type of brick? If one had started from an unpoured foundation, of course, a small socket would have been poured at the same time but now I came up with this about 5 years after the slab was poured
