The existing uninsulated sunroom is going to be renovated a bit.
Need to do something about the drafts. Unfortunately, the decking is nailed, and I don't have the energy to rip up the entire floor.
Thinking of taking up 5-6 boards to create an opening in 2 places - 1/3 out and 2/3 out from the wall. I still need to reinforce the beam.
NOW TO THE QUESTIONS:
1. Can one staple wind barrier under the floor joists to stop drafts? In other words, will it hold and are there any problems that might arise?
I might also try to put in XPS foam, but if so gaps are likely to occur here and there.
2. Alternatively, I can staple wind barrier ON TOP of the decking. Planning to lay balcony mat with nubs on the floor.
3. Is there a wind barrier preferred over another? I've heard some smell like tar.
Other facts:
Switching to channel plastic 16 mm (currently cheap plastic roof).
Uninsulated walls, single-pane windows.
40-50 cm from the ground.
Will lay age-resistant plastic on the ground.
About 18 sqm.
