Hello,

I'm going to hang up a round mirror weighing 18 kg. I have bought the following screws: ESSVE 5*50mm.
The wall where the mirror will hang is concrete, and the plug is 4 cm long. There are two screws to hold up the mirror.
I'm worried if the screw head can handle the weight. Does anyone have experience if the screws can handle this?

I have attached pictures below.

Appreciate any response.

Regards,
Sam

  • The back of a round mirror with mounting brackets, packaged with styrofoam and plastic wrap, ready for hanging.
  • Screw and plug set for mounting, including an ESSVE 5x50mm screw with brown wall plug on a woven mat background.
Screw on, it will work fine (y)

Only 9kg/screw.
It takes significantly more than that to shear off the head.

P
F=18x9.81, A=19mm2
s=F/A=10MPa if you hang it with only one screw then yes, it holds with plenty of margin :)
The above assumes of course that it is hung flush with the wall and the mirror is not "angled" as there will be some bending in the screw that needs to be considered, but despite this, there is a good margin..

Two such screws that hold a bracket that the mirror will hang on in concrete are more than enough.
It is not the head that holds, it is the core of the screw that is strong.
The head is just there to prevent the bracket from slipping out and there is no load on it.
Now there are 3 of us saying it will be fine, drill and hang up.

Hanging on:crysmile:
As number four. It will work perfectly with your screw and plug in concrete. It can hold significantly more load.
Go for it!
Merry Christmas
