Hello,

I'm disappointed in my own IQ, but I guess I missed the math lessons when this was covered.

I need to order a floor plate to have near the fireplace as spark protection.

How do I create a template that shows the angle/shape of the plate I want? Attaching a picture.

Greatly appreciate humble quick tips!

Take a piece of cover paper and place it against and shape it according to the stove!

Tried with paper, cardboard without success. Always manage to get some crease so the shape doesn't turn out well.

Have the tinsmith come out and measure! Absolutely the easiest. You can blame him if it goes wrong too!

Measure the lengths of both straight sides (and check the angle between them).

Then take a small piece of cardboard, place it on the rounded corner, and trace from underneath.

Whatever you choose to template with - from rough cut to fine details; place the rough-cut template against the foundation, take a slightly larger metal washer and place the pen in the center hole, and draw a new (perfectly exact) line. Is it a floor mat? Because there is no movement joint visible against the foundation...
