Buying construction materials abroad
Buick,
why have people been disappointed with windows? Is it because "German" windows in Sweden have become cheaper/available?

Yes, I will be heading down to Gdansk in April-May. Taking the ferry from Nynäshamn. I was there last autumn to scout things out. Most things are at least 30% cheaper except for timber and insulation like gullfiber. However, cell plastic was much cheaper than here. I can recommend Leroy Merlin for plumbing, tiles, paint, etc. At BAT, you can buy ground pipes, bricks, cell plastic, paving stones, etc. I found that Praktiker and Castorama & co had too small inventories. Personally, I will try to buy everything except for timber and insulation. For example, underfloor heating pipe PEX 20 mm for 6:50 SEK/meter. Rinkaby charges around 18:00 or something like that.
Good luck with your purchases.

In addition to the big department stores that have been consistently mentioned in the thread, I would also like to know if anyone has found, for example, carpentry shops that manufacture stairs/windows? I'm also looking for a kitchen stove like Wamsler (AB Hans Forsman - the specialist in wood burning) and it would be good to know if there are any nurseries nearby!

Is there any of you who might be open to placing an order or possibly taking an extra passenger? I need granite ceramics, but it wouldn't be economical for me to go down by myself... Plus, I find it so hard to get some time off...lellesv said:
I have previously shopped a lot from Germany, including many items for the bathroom from Megabad. However, I have now opted for solid parquet from a Polish company. A slightly unusual dimension 16x43x300 in nature (best) sorting. €12.90 + VAT = 147 SEK/m2. There are probably cheaper options, but I am satisfied. Also got a good price on transport, one pallet home, 2,750 SEK including VAT. Now I will try to relax and not worry...
I would like to ask those of you who seem to be experienced Poland travelers about where you can get cheap granite flooring, preferably a store with a website with prices.
Many thanks in advance,
Martin

Make sure not to get stuck in Castorama, Praktiker, OBI, or other large hardware stores. They cater to the masses, so you may not find any gems there. Much is made to order, e.g., kitchen and bathroom furniture, doors, railings, etc. Finer types of tiles are usually found in smaller stores.
You must be extremely satisfied with them, as almost all of your 21 posts (so far) are about polenshopping.se. Just click on your username and then on "find more posts by stillfullt".stilfullt said:
