Hope this is in the right forum,

I need to support an opening in a wall, not particularly heavy loads, so I'm thinking of going with a quick and cheap solution by buying a steel beam from a company that might have one lying around that I can purchase at a low price. Dimensions aren’t too important, I can adapt based on what it looks like, availability and low cost are most important. Does anyone have a suggestion?

To clarify: both my parents are trained engineers, so I know what we're doing :).

Thanks in advance!

Högsbo Järn och Metall sells to serious private customers, i.e., you need to know what you want and not stand there and argue. They sell according to Stena Metal's price list, so download it and use it as a basis. You can, of course, order custom-sized beams. I buy quite a bit of metal from them, and it works very well. They also have LaFarge and Plannja's professional range, which they sell to private individuals.

Hammars Riv in Lindome may also have leftover scrap.

Kungsbacka is close enough, right?
The beam is now at my place, thanks for the tip :).
