I have discovered that I need to build custom closets and the absolute best door solution would be sliding doors.

But......

Where can I find tracks/wheels and other necessary items?
I have seen different solutions and what I think would be best is if the doors run on wheels, meaning they don't hang from the top but the weight is on the bottom and only "guided" from above. Or maybe someone has a better suggestion?

The dream would be if I could have the doors reach all the way up to the ceiling (well, almost) which means they would need to be somewhere between 248-250cm, and I had in mind for each door to be about 53-55cm wide. The question is what kind of board/material should I use for the doors? MDF?

Grateful for all suggestions and shared experiences!

I have only seen systems where the doors hang in tracks. Why don't you want them to hang from the top? <If you have wheels at the bottom rolling in some track, it will likely collect dirt and debris that could cause friction. Or do you want the floor to continue into the closet without a "threshold"? Habo has several different systems for sliding doors: www.habo.com. If you go to the nearest hardware store, they can certainly help you.

Thanks for the quick response! Habo had exactly what I was looking for!

Hello

www.garderobspecialisten.com offers DIY kits for building sliding doors for wardrobes. I'm considering trying this for my hallway project.
