Hello,
I'm currently extending my house, and due to height requirements, both the reinforcements in the existing wall and the entire frame with load-bearing beams, joists, and posts in the extension need to be built in steel. However, I'm having some trouble finding people who can provide references/experience with such work. And I find it a bit difficult to generally trust those who say they "know everything" without having proof.
So my question is, how uncommon and complicated is it to build a steel frame? And what type of company should I target? Is it sufficient to have carpenters who have done some reinforcements with steel beams, or is there a significant risk that they might botch something? Or should I perhaps look among companies that specialize in industrial buildings for constructing the actual frame? After all, there are a lot of buildings that are built in steel, but it seems that companies generally either work with industrial halls, etc., in steel or cater to private individuals and then build wooden/stone houses.
