Hi,

I'm asking the question here instead of in my construction thread.

I (read: the carpenter) have installed skylights at our place. One of standard size and two others mounted as a double. I am now plastering and building walls and will soon be building the reveals. How would you do it? The answer "Buy Velux ready-made reveals" is not an option, I don't like them, I want plaster so it harmonizes with the walls. I also don't think they're available for double mounts.

What order?
Install plaster on the slanted ceiling first or the reveals first? Start at the top, bottom, or sides?
I don't have any pictures of how it looks today, it's of course plastic-covered and battens are set so I can screw the plaster into them. In my mind, it's simply a matter of starting randomly, pushing the board into the slot that exists on the window, but maybe someone else has better solutions?

Thanks!

  • Attic renovation with two roof windows, insulation, and wooden framework in place. Ladder, level, and tools are visible on the unfinished floor.
  • Person installing roof windows in an attic with wooden beams, plastic sheeting, and ladders. Interior renovation in progress with tools on the floor.
I had started with the husks and let the plasterboard hang out a bit. Then it's easy to slide the wall panel against the protruding husk and saw along. Add the outer corner molding, putty, and paint.

Have also thought along those lines :)
