I have a wall that is about 2.2 x 3.5m where in the future there will be a lot of things. Everything from a water heater to a water pump + various filters and an electrical panel and fifty-twelve other things.

Right now it's just built with leca blocks. Behind the wall is earth and gravel, all the way up.

I'm wondering, will I go crazy if I leave the wall as it is and try to screw into the leca?

Some alternatives I'm considering:

1) Build out the wall with metal studs and attach an OSB board (note: not sure how to best ventilate the back of the board)

2) Plaster the wall with a centimeter or three and use plugs.

3) Keep it as it is and use long screws, expecting some holes to become messy etc.

What would you do?

I would leave it as it is. If it is earth against it, it's best for moisture considerations.

You can plaster it but then it must be diffusion-open!

It doesn't sound like you're going to see much of the wall anyway... :)
 
If you want it easy to screw, you can attach metal studs with OSB but let the entire wall have an air gap of about 5 cm around it, like a frame on a painting. Or place a horizontal 2500 x 1200 OSB in the middle of the wall on metal studs for installation purposes.
 
Thank you. Interesting idea, it will probably be something like that.
But what about the load-bearing capacity of metal studs? They presumably can't carry as much weight as a thick wooden stud? Consider a 150 kg water heater as an example.
 
It's time to do something about the wall.

What do you think about this:

1) I screw a horizontal 28x70 at the top and bottom of the wall (or, since it slopes, maybe a 45x70 up/down, I don't remember which direction it slopes). I place a paper strip between the beam and the wall.

2) On the outside of these, I frame with vertical 45x70 in CC 40 or similar, to build quite a bit but still be able to support things like VVB and other possibly heavy items. I am reluctant to lose too much space here.

3) Install double OSB (alternative 1 x stronger board)

Sound reasonable?

The air gap will then be 28mm or more behind the OSB, then I let it end a few centimeters from the intersecting perpendicular walls, so that air can get in behind.

What I'm particularly poor at understanding is: What do you want to hang a 100kg water heater on?
Today it hangs on a stone wall, drilled through to the other side, and is secured with sturdy screws with nuts and mounting iron on the backside. When this wall is in place, the water heater should be here instead.

I hope someone can share a thought with me!
