....but I'm hesitating a bit between a center beam made of steel pipe or making one out of plywood....preferably would like as few curved steps as possible...any suggestions?

Drawing finished :)

Planning to use oak countertops as material for the steps....IKEA? or someone else who has another option?

Just finish building then swing by here to measure up your next stair project! d^_^b

Just to add, I've noticed that you can often get better deals on countertops from places like K-Rauta or Bauhaus compared to what they cost at IKEA.

I've checked Bauhaus but they were more expensive than IKEA...K-Rauta should be checked :)

Slacker is welcome to come over and copy the stairs when they are finally finished....nice attitude considering that they only exist in my head so far...hahaha....

Check Rusta too! Prices are available on the website.

I have missed this thread ...

Are you planning to have a landing at the bottom of the U?

What are your thoughts on the material? Planing and gluing together construction timber and then planing it is the cheapest option if you have access to a planer.
It can even be so much cheaper that the purchase of a simpler planer can be justified.
But then it would be pine/spruce, you might have been thinking of something more exclusive...

No... no landing... wanted it because it would have been much easier but unfortunately the designated space does not allow for a staircase with a landing :@... now it's going to be one with 6 curved steps and 9 straight ones... I will make the central beam in 15mm plywood as a box and with 27mm oak steps.....

Biltema has started with oak boards. 3x0.62 costs 1000kr for 27mm thickness and 1500kr for 40mm.

...looking for recessed wall lighting to install in risers.....provide suggestions....
