Building a temporary scaffold

Hello everyone. It's time to wallpaper the stairs and I need some sort of scaffolding to reach up. I plan to set up beams (45x95) in the way you see in the picture. I plan to attach joist hangers to the wall on each side and then lay boards over them.

I wanted to ask if anyone can give tips on what size screw I need for fixing it to the wall. The smaller the better. I will be standing alone (75 kg) and have ordinary wallpapering equipment with me, so all in all about 100 kg.

I built a frame with some 45x95 and then attached legs of different lengths to it at the corners, securing them with 75mm screws, about 2 in each leg.

A few braces between the legs and an OSB board on the frame. Then I stood there wallpapering on an awab stool with my 90kg.

But you didn't attach the frame to the wall then? It would have been best to avoid making any alterations to it!

Why not invest in a stairway ladder? That's what I've used when painting stairways.

Have thought about it but they were expensive to purchase and haven't found any nearby to rent either.

My construction, I could remove the board so it was possible to use the stairs while the scaffold was there for a couple of weeks. Nothing screwed into the walls. Also had smaller boards for the side openings.

But you didn't attach the frame to the wall then? That would have been the best way to avoid damaging it!

It was completely loose, one could undoubtedly have made it more serious, but for taking 20 minutes to build, it was fine for me.

So just building a platform with legs is both simple and doesn't create any holes in the walls from screws.
