I have cast a concrete slab to place a pool on. Now I will build two retaining walls to support the long sides of the pool. These walls will be about 4.5m long and 1.4m high. That is, as high as the water in the pool reaches. The idea is to build three buttresses for each wall. I can backfill up to about 80cm against the retaining walls.

The question now is whether I can just start building the wall with lecablock without vertical reinforcement or if I need to reinforce vertically?

Should the first layer be attached in any special way to the slab?
