We use 45x70 on all interior walls, chipboard first and then gypsum.
If I had to choose myself, it would likely be 45x70 for my part as well. Sheet metal layout with a high flange on the floor and ceiling and wooden studs in between. However, I would have preferred plywood, or possibly OSB, behind the gypsum because I think it holds better when you screw into it than into chipboard.
Agree, use 45x70 and take metal track at the top and bottom but go with 10 mm chipboard. Cheaper.ACME said:If I could choose for myself, it would likely be 45x70 in my case as well. Sheet metal with high flange on the floor and ceiling and wooden studs in between.

The drywall is screwed into the studs anyway.
Frame at 45c/c, if you use 1200 chipboard, you don't need to splice on a stud but just continue and make lines for the studs.
Then you use 900 drywall and screw into the studs through the chipboard.
Plywood or OSB is definitely the best if you're going to mount something heavier on the wall, but then you usually add blocking for it.
