Hi!

I am going to build a wall in the attic to separate two fire compartments. The wall will be EI60, which I achieve by covering the studs with double gypsum boards on each side.

I need to create two inspection hatches/small doors to inspect installations that are in the attic. Inspection hatches are quite expensive, and I hope that it is possible to build them myself fairly easily.

What do you think about framing a hatch and covering it with double gypsum? Is that enough, or does it need to be sealed? How can this be done easily? It would be good if it could be mounted on hinges since it will be quite heavy.

Do you have any ideas I can present to the fire consultant?

Yes, that should do. Put a trim around the hatch or a handle so it can be opened. Otherwise, use 4 gypsum boards and metal studs. Easier.

Thank you!
