Building a guardrail in front of inward-opening windows
Hello!
I would need some tips and ideas for a guardrail with a special solution.
We have an inward-opening window right in the middle where the guardrail should be. It's an old house and previously there were only 2 horizontal bars, which is not very child-safe.
The idea is to have a guardrail with vertical bars and I still want to be able to open the window for cleaning sometimes (it’s a 2+1 window with 4 sides to clean). Does anyone have any idea or solution for how I can have both a guardrail and still open the window?
Could you make some sort of hinge situation in the railing? I don't want an opening in the middle of the railing as child safety is important.
The window extends about 35cm into the room when it's fully open.
The window is brand new, so I’d prefer not to replace it.
Thank you in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Should it be childproof? Or similar to what is on the stairs? The cross down the stairs probably isn't considered safe, neither by height nor rail spacing. If the crosses are to be the same, I would fit it so that it's enough to loosen one or two screws and a diagonal pin to access opening. Special variants where parts of the railing become a gate might not be either aesthetically pleasing or safe.

I would also have chosen a gate for this problem if it should be easy to access. Otherwise, a removable liftable element in the railing is an alternative too, just secure it with a screw on each side.
