Hey

I'm planning to start building a wooden fence soon.
It will be about 2 meters high, with the posts being 90x90 or alternatively 70x70, but that might be a bit flimsy.
But how do I secure the posts and to what?
Ground anchors, concrete plinths or dig holes and cast them myself? It will be about 100 meters of fence.
The boards will overlap so wind and gusts pass through.

I don't understand what you mean by overlap since if the boards overlap it becomes tight?

If it's a wind-exposed area, substantial concrete foundations are required for such a large fence.
Ground anchors and ready-made small slabs will definitely not hold.

This is the idea.
A tall wooden privacy fence in a backyard with green grass and trees.
Can you even buy such strong concrete foundations, or do you have to make them yourself?
Is there anything else you can do to make it privacy-protected?

100 meters long and 2 meters high. That's more wind exposure than a 40-foot sailboat. The foundations will be enormous, maybe concrete casting 300X300 and at least 750 down into the ground with pillar iron embedded in the concrete and through bolts in the post which is at least 90X90. Or braces on the back or front every 3rd meter if it's supposed to hold.

It's going to be quite a sail😀 while there are larger concrete foundations, they would require machine handling in that case.

If it's such long sections, a hedge would be much cheaper and easier to achieve...

Ok. Maybe I need to rethink that then... too bad it's so expensive with a 2-meter hedge right away....
Any tips on how to do it differently?

.
Hedges work but cost about 800:- each if you want them 2 meters high.

Overlapping or not, it becomes an opaque fence except for certain narrow angles. You want it tall too: Building permit, what's your plan there?

Located in the countryside and approved by the neighbor, etc., so building permit is already resolved.

Buy thuja plants, they grow about 0.5 meters per year if they thrive, plant them about 0.5 meters apart, and they need a lot of water initially. The cost of a fence probably won't be cheap either. Thuja is likely cheaper in the long run. No painting or wood that deteriorates. Just grows and is trimmed with an electric hedge trimmer on the sides and wait for the height until it becomes right.

What does a fence cost then? Also consider paint and maintenance, it probably won't be cheaper in the long run and a hedge will look much nicer according to the Style Police;)

A hedge with Tuja Brabant 120-140cm high, needing about 3 per meter, 280 in total for 44,800kr I found quickly. There are probably cheaper options if you research deeper. It's difficult to build a 100m fence cheaper...
I've planted such hedges before with good results..
Within 3-5 years, you will have a dense and nice hedge😀

I guess it's not a 100-meter straight plank, angles and corners help a lot in absorbing the forces. The design with planks on both sides also stiffens it up.

Of course it does, but not for wind like a sail.

Checked some prices, wasn't too bad for shorter ones, about 1300 for 25 short Brabants and they can grow up to 50 cm a year if they're thriving. Some will surely turn brown and die off. Just replace with a new one. In a few years, they will have grown over your head as it's called.
