We are planning to build a simple fence made of impregnated decking timber, where the planks are 28x145 mm. Now we are wondering what to do with the sawn ends, do you think they need to be treated? Or has the impregnation penetrated the entire plank so one never needs to treat the sawn ends?

It has penetrated so no additional protection is needed... after all, you don't treat the end grain on terraces.

However, it may be a good idea to bevel the ends slightly so that water can drain off.

Bevel the ends? On horizontal fence boards?

Okay, we were a bit unsure about how far the impregnation penetrates the wood. But then it feels okay not to do anything with the ends.

No. It wasn't clear that they were horizontal boards.

Sorry, my bad. Should have written that directly. :-)

By the way, there are existing old iron poles that everything will be built on. On these poles, we will attach a smaller vertical board to fasten the horizontal ones. We already know that they should be beveled at the bottom, but should they also be beveled at the top? And what angle should the beveling be?

There are probably no exact answers to that question, but about 10 degrees should suffice. Otherwise, you could also put on a stolphatt (if it is a pole).
