Build the mountain into the garage as a wall
Page 1 of 5
My "garage" has probably seen its best days, and I'm considering a new build. The space is extremely limited, and currently, one end wall stands against an almost vertical rock face. There is a maximum of 30 cm between the wall and the rock. In this space, leaves, debris, and other things accumulate, which need to be cleared out from time to time.
The idea I am toying with is to use the rock face completely as the end wall in the next version, meaning it would be visible inside the garage.
Is this a bad idea, or is it possible to make it work? Has anyone done something similar?

Bad in that it will cool + any water flows coming out of the mountain will enter the garage.
Good in that it is kind of cool. I would probably have been excited about it.
In any case, you shouldn't have such a gap between the garage and the mountain. It should be filled in and drained.

I saw a program about an old man, I guess you could say, in Finland, BLIND and around 75-80 years old, he amused himself by blasting a site in the mountain, just because he could....
Now I don't know what the Swedish regulations say about doing a bit of blasting on your property, but I suspect it might conflict with its contents...

Hmm, it is actually possible with a large chain to saw out completely square blocks, I have seen such things during drilling for culverts and the like, then they took out a piece that was about 1x1x10 meters
15 of these, and you have 5 meters wide, 3 in height, and 10 meters deep, and 15 Bautastenar to sell
The company was called TGB, they are now acquired by Styrud, who knows, it could be an alternative to blasting, The proposal is to be regarded as 50/50 crazy/serious
I will be cheering on…
(Yes, I can get off track sometimes

Great, then I can decorate the yard and fix the driveway. I have some contacts within the old televerket and Fort-F, and given the stories they tell about rock rooms, I will put them to the test. This is not going to be popular at home...Mäster said:Hmm, it is actually possible to cut completely square blocks with a large chain, I have seen such during drilling for culverts and the like, they took out a piece that was about 1x1x10 meters. 15 of these, and you have 5 meters wide, 3 in height, and 10 meters deep, plus 15 Bautastenar to sellThe company was called TGB, they are now acquired by Styrud, who knows, it might be an alternative to blasting. They ARE good at holes in the ground yes
When you can easily drive a 24-meter truck in and turn around inside the area without reversing, it's a decent "pit."
The cost of blasting varies depending on how many houses you have nearby.

"Holes in the ground" is probably true nowadays, but the stories I've heard involve tunnels, atom-proof stations, etc.mats_o said:
I have none nearby at all (about 500m) other than myself (25 meters away).
I was thinking more about keeping the wall clean and laying drainage along the floor with nice gravel as a "baseboard". Rhoca Gil almost managed to seal a ridge, so for granite, it almost met BKR's regulations.raveper said:
