Hi! I'm planning to convert a wall into a slat wall. I want space behind the slats to add some sound insulation. But which insulation should I use? I don't want to use any potentially hazardous materials. Size-wise, preferably like regular thick insulation as it will cover the entire wall.
Hi, check out the acoustic panel so you get everything in one. Example: https://www.bauhaus.se/akustikpanel

You can throw in a ground board with a fabric on the outside. However, it's not so sound insulating, more absorbing. It becomes a Helmholtz resonator and the frequency depends on the distance between slats and the volume behind. A bit like blowing air into a bottle but the other way around.B Browex said:
Smart solution, but I'll probably rather just throw in some insulation, whatever kind of insulation it might be.I Installation said:

Are you going to put slats on a wall or replace a wall with a slat wall? There is a certain difference in how it will function.B Browex said:
What are you thinking of using for it?
Insulation like stone wool or glass wool? Works with wood wool too.
Existing wall that will be built upon. I have read that glass wool and stone wool aren't very good for health. Otherwise, I would have used one of them directly.I Installation said:

Use ceiling tiles, in fact made of gullfiber but with a surface layer.B Browex said:
As long as they just sit there behind protection, they are completely harmless.
