Build a small gate with horizontal slats

Hello,
I'm planning to build a fence with horizontal slats. I plan to have posts 70x70, and slats 45x45. I thought about having approximately 1-meter spacing between the posts. The height of the fence and gate is about 70cm. I'm considering whether to use a diagonal brace in the gate. Is it necessary for a gate that is 80 cm long? Any tips or advice?
