I thought one of the summer projects would be to start building a fireplace in our summer cottage.
It is only intended for a cozy fire, we want to get rid of some wood and we don't use the cottage in the winter, a stove would probably make the room too warm when we light a fire in spring and autumn.
Since the house is built with a shed roof and somewhat in a functionalist style, we thought we'd try to achieve a fairly square style for the fireplace. Whitewashed with lime plaster.
I would be grateful if someone more experienced could look at the sketches, it is mainly the brick beams (marked in red) that would be good to get an opinion on, especially the one supporting the chimney. I have made brick beams before and also assisted in masonry of our two chimneys on the house, so I have some knowledge but I'm not an expert. The chimney will be about 3.5 meters high.
Yes, there will be a damper, and possibly a "rökhylla" I believe it is called, but it might not be necessary, as we will be burning directly under the chimney.
