Hello!

Maybe a dumb question. I live on the second floor of a rather old house with a fairly small stairwell (about 4 meters wide). What is the easiest way to bring in long building materials such as flooring and moldings? The floors I plan to order come in random lengths of 2.5-5m. The long planks seem very difficult to get in, and since the floor is solid and needs to stay in its packaging indoors for a few days before installation begins, it also feels unwise to break the packaging to unload one plank at a time.

Grateful for answers!

Thanks, I am aware that that's what's required. Just wondering how people do it when dealing with lengths that can't be carried up due to too tight spaces.

Also thought about it, but those packages weigh almost 30 kg each.

I have an acquaintance who lifted the sofa with a crane truck via the balcony.

Long items can often be sent in through the window, as long as they're not too heavy.
Sent in floor chipboards through the window, even on the second floor.

Will have to be the window then! :-)

We brought in the countertop with a crane, and we ordered the ceiling at the maximum length that could be brought up in the stairwell, as well as the moldings. We had to carry up board by board, the advantage was that there was a 3m ceiling height in the stairwell.

But we lived on the 3rd floor, with the first floor half a flight up.
