Brick up light intake - glass blocks

Hi…
What's the smoothest way to do this?
I need to brick up along the foundation outside as a slab is to be cast for the conservatory.
Should I chip down the glass blocks beforehand, or can they stay as they are, as the inside doesn't matter?
Build up with blocks next to the windows and then plaster evenly or chip away the glass blocks?

I had removed these and bricked up the hole with lecablock.
