I have started a project to brick up one of our garage doors to convert it into living space. A window is also going to be installed in the opening. Now that I have opened up a section and removed the door frame, etc., I see that the blocks (the whole house is made of lightweight clinker blocks 590x250x190) above the garage door are "resting" against the actual door construction. I had thought there would be a lintel over each opening, but that's not the case... Do I have any way to safely remove the door and door frame without jeopardizing the entire structure? I don't want the whole house to collapse.
I plan to build up with the same dimension blocks, minus the space for the window.

If it's a wood frame, it can hardly support the upper floor.
Do you have pictures?
Here are some pictures. Note my semi-panic after starting to take down some stuff, two weak studs are acting as supports while I'm getting this sorted out... Also note the joints in the blocks in the last pictures, which show that it's not a continuous beam.

The frame is not load-bearing, but it seems to hold the leca blocks in place, what is above that row of leca?
I haven't gone up higher but have no reason to believe it's anything other than 2 or 3 more rows of leca. On the outside, there is plaster about 40-50 cm above the visible row of leca. The upper floor is made of wood with paneling (split-level house). I cannot explain exactly how the floor structure or the transition between floors looks. We moved in just under a year ago. The house is from '86.
Could the port have been changed at some point and the new one was lower so a layer of leca was added on top?
Does the opening look the same size on both sides?
The frame does not support anything at all, so there is some beam or reinforcement above. Just brick it up, if you're worried you can brick up to 1cm away and press in expanding concrete.
It is a double garage and the other door is identical to this one so I strongly doubt that anything has been replaced since -86.
It feels a bit more secure after your answers. I will open it up more at the top today and see how it looks above the visible leca row. But it does feel at least like there is something other than the frame supporting the upper floor.
