Hi,
I am planning to brick up a doorway in the basement. I thought I would use lecablock/lightweight expanded clay blocks. The wall is plastered and the total thickness is 9 cm, with about 1 cm of plaster on each side. My idea was to use 7 cm thick lightweight expanded clay blocks, but it seems like these are not in stock at the local building supply stores.
Do you think it would work to use 9 cm blocks and then apply a thin layer of plaster over the entire wall to make it even? Or is there a risk that the plaster layer will be too thick on the already plastered wall or too thin on the new wall section?
The opening is about 70x200 cm.
Should reinforcement be used?

Significantly easier to brick thinner in the door opening when you have natural edges to tear the plaster against. If you can overlay light concrete with thin joint mortar, these are available in the thickness you need.
