I am going to restore our chimney stack where it goes through the second floor of the house. I'm getting help from a relative who worked as a bricklayer about 40 years ago. He still has the skills but is not up to date on material choices.

Now the question is: Firstly, which plaster should be chosen? B or C mortar?

Then I have convenient access to K-rauta, which sells Maxit (I think), Bauhaus which has something, own brand. Byggmax with their own brand. A slightly longer distance if I want to shop at Hornbach, which sells Finja.

K-rauta seems to be the most expensive, but for the entire chimney job, they are probably only about 200 SEK more expensive than Byggmax.

As mentioned, does it matter, is there a difference in how easy the mortar is to work with?

I don't think the price matters in this context as long as it's the right mortar and it's done correctly from the start. Maxit, which is sold by K-Rauta, is a branded mortar, so there should be no problem using it. The issue is just knowing if you need a base mortar, if it was previously lime mortar, etc....
