There is ready paneling that is exactly what you're looking for. Moelven rough. tongue and groove 12.-120. and the tongue is not symmetrical, so there will be about 5mm gaps.

I have installed it in my basement. Very good quality, I think. It's also pre-painted.

Price on it? I've seen something about approx. 17 kr / lpm, does that roughly match?

Moelven rough certainly looks like exactly what I'm looking for, but it seems expensive. Where can you get it?

I bought mine at XL-bygg. I think it cost about 20:- per meter. It is end-matched, so there is not much waste. Keep in mind that e.g. råspont should be knot-sealed, primed, and finished. Not really cheap either, actually.

If the price is 20 SEK/lpm, it will be about 2200:- for my roof. The price for Byggmax råspont (120mm) would be about 1200. The question is whether it's worth the extra 1000 to avoid knot lacquering, painting and painting.

They had Moelven rough at XL-bygg here in Gbg for 22kr/lpm. Does anyone know more retailers?

Easily worth it, in my opinion ... :)

But painting, filling and all that, is the worst thing I know ... ;)

A single can of paint and knot seal also ends up being a thousand.

We have set up Moelven rough and the knots have turned properly yellow in a year.

That was exactly what I wanted to hear... Back to square one then.

As mentioned, to get untreated pine paneling nicely painted: forget the knot sealer and paint the ENTIRE boards with blocking paint. A bit more expensive than regular paint, but cheaper than sealing the whole board and it also provides good coverage. Let the paint dry for at least 24 hours before applying the next coat, so that all the yellowing is absorbed by the blocking layer. This applies whether it is new paneling or 40-year-old paneling.

Hmm... at XL-bygg, they had never heard of there being breakthrough on Moelven, but they didn't know how the boards were treated. I will see if I can get an answer from Moelven.

Just to make it even MORE interesting, I can inform you that we have experienced bleed-through even after painting with the stain-blocking white, so after that, we always go with the knot sealer because it is so incredibly tiresome to redo.

For the same purpose, I bought rough-sawn råspont. I believe that's what you, The Tor, are looking for.
I didn't buy dried wood because I want to paint, nail it up, and then watch the cracks appear. As long as they are painted.
The wood is spruce, not pine. Attached image is a quote excluding VAT.

  • Receipt showing purchase of non-dried, fine-sawn spruce boards, itemized as "Råspont," with dimensions 22x120mm, 250 LPM, at 13.60 per unit, totaling 2720.00.
The same timber, but dried, is available for 14.85kr/meter (including VAT). The timber comes from Sandåsa. Call them to find out which local suppliers are closest to you....
