The partner wants wall-mounted TV/media furniture, and I agree that it's much more stylish. But the problem is that we only have a small plaster wall to hang everything on. Wondering if anyone knows how good IKEA's new BESTÅ series with their wall rail is for hanging things on a plaster wall?

The wall rail I'm talking about is this one: http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/30284846/

Plasterboard is probably the most common material in interior walls. Use Molly plugs, and it should work. Maybe you can find a stud to screw a wood screw into.

On this link, you can read more about attachments in drywall besides underlying studs: http://www.gyproc.se/fästa-i-gipsvägg

The maximum shear force per screw is the piece of information you should look for. Depending on the choice of screw, one BESTÅ rail can handle between 40-70 kg. That's not much if you're considering cabinets or similar. If you can screw through the drywall into wooden studs, you can load significantly more, but it doesn't always match the desired placement.
