Hello,

The work on building the terrace has now begun, while simultaneously feeling like I should have bounced my ideas off someone sensible.

The plan: build a terrace against the rock face with a staircase (about 5 steps) up along the thuja trees.
It will be a small social area.

The plan is to dig out more soil but I couldn't resist putting up the first beam against the wall.
The beam is mounted on an adjustable post shoe nearest the wall and it has the correct height now that I thought to use as a reference. The decking should be placed so that they run from the wall towards the rock.

Questions:
- am I thinking correctly 😆?
- how should I handle the beams overall to make it the best?
- How should I handle the beams closest to the rock?
- how closely should the posts be placed? I like to cast them as it’s fun. Using 145 beams.

Grateful for all tips!

  • Building site with rock wall, concrete base, and green thuja trees, showing partial terrace construction with tools and materials on uneven ground.
