I'm considering opening up a wall between the kitchen and the adjacent room. The wall, like most of the house, is made of brick, but it runs parallel to the rafters and is about 250cm, extending from the outer wall to the chimney.
The wall itself is not load-bearing in terms of the house's construction, but the brick wall continues upstairs (one and a half-story house).

The question now is how large the steel beam should be to support the approximately 3 square meters of brick wall (sloped ceiling above) that is above? None of the calculation programs I've found seem to fit well in this example.

Calculate the weight of the wall above the beam and treat it as a uniformly distributed load. It is a common calculation scenario.
 
Unfortunately, I'm not great at calculations myself and find it difficult to find online what a brick wall might weigh per m2. The question is more whether I can manage with HEA100 or if I need to go up to 120 or 140.
 
What brick weighs can't be too hard to Google.

Then you need the measurements of the wall and you'll have the weight. A small sketch would be good, so you can probably get help.
 
If you consider raw brick wall as 200kg/m^2, you're not far off. So about 600kg load. So it feels like you would manage with an HEA 100.

I will try to include a picture or something similar tomorrow and also measure more on the wall's dimensions. However, I think it's smaller than I initially stated. Then again, there is plaster and wallpaper on the outside, which also adds some weight.

So it's the wall between the kitchen and dining room in the lower picture that we planned to remove.
There is no kitchen on the upper floor anymore and it's only the first rough meter out from the chimney breast that's brick on the upper floor. Then it's a wooden wall.
 
Hmm, from the drawings I get the impression that the roof trusses are perpendicular to the wall that is to be demolished. It says that it is parallel in post #1.
 
They are parallel. The wall between the kitchen and the hallway as well as its extension with the wall between the dining room and the room is thus the heart wall of the house.
 
It looks like the chimney (?) is wider on the second floor than on the first.

Should this also be supported by the beam?
 
The drawings are probably somewhat misleading. The chimney has the same dimensions on both floors, but more flues from the upper floor and upwards.

The chimney should mostly stand on its own, and it is only the wall on the ground floor that needs to be demolished. There are about 40 cm above the doorway and then, of course, the remaining wall next to the doorway up to the outer wall at the bottom on the lower drawing.
