hi, renovating a bathroom in a house built in 1968. there was some kind of sheeting on the wall with plastic in the middle which was removed to replace insulation. the question is whether I should install new diffusion-tight plastic or vapor barrier or nothing? it will be mounted with plywood + gypsum then sealing sheet/wallpaper?

best regards

Do you mean wet room gypsum?

It is recommended to use moisture-resistant drywall in wet zone 1 + 1m, then "regular drywall".

no longer.

Exactly, 2 waterproof layers seem unnecessary, the question is whether a vapor barrier installed on the studs is unnecessary?

Vapor barrier is common.

A few years ago the recommendation was wet room gypsum, not anymore.

Go to BKR.se and read or call them tomorrow and ask. Do according to the industry regulations so it is done correctly; if you sell, you have much to gain. I see all too often in house sales, bathroom renovation is done, then it turns out that what has been done is only replacing tiles and nothing more. Even sometimes they have neglected to change the floor drain. Those houses are not interesting.
