Hello!
I'm renovating my basement with new flooring, walls, and ceiling!
But I'm considering a few things!!
On the floor against the slab, I'll lay a soundproofing mat, then a Platon mat. On top of the Platon mat will be floorboards, and after that a carpet or floor!
The question is how I should build the construction for my new walls.
If I lay the Platon mat and leave it 2cm from the wall, then the floorboard, and then a horizontal metal profile on top of this, will I need to place the metal profile at a distance, meaning do I need to have air inlets near the floor even though the Platon mat is 2cm away from the wall?
I will have ventilated moldings up towards the ceiling.
I believe it should be enough for the air to enter through the ceiling on one side of the room and then circulate freely behind the wall, under the floor, and behind the other wall, and then continue up and out through the ventilated molding in the ceiling on the other side of the room.
Staff at Hornbasch believe it is more important to have good air holes near the ceiling than near the floor!
However, I did not ask them about my construction which I thought through a bit more when I got home...
If I lay my metal profile after the Platon mat on the concrete slab, I understand that it must be elevated so that the air can flow and circulate properly!!
What do you think?
How would you do it?
Best regards, Johan
