We are currently working on an attic apartment of 55m² with 4 dormers.
In the ceiling, we do not want wood paneling but rather gypsum board to be spackled and painted or wallpapered with fabric. Attached is a picture of the current situation and we wonder whether we should use single or double gypsum. Thanks to everyone who responds.
Single gypsum is probably sufficient. Double gypsum is required when you need to separate two fire compartments. It is also required against the outer roof in apartment buildings, townhouses, and sometimes in densely built-up areas. Where fire risks spreading to adjacent houses within 30-60 minutes. If you live in a detached villa with more than 10 meters to the nearest neighbor, single gypsum is sufficient.
When you are plastering the ceiling, it's simple and good to glue paper tape with bathroom primer on the joints that do not have a bevel. Just as a tip...
It becomes very flat and sticks like a mountain.
The garage is also something I should have mentioned. The garage should constitute its own fire compartment, separated in EI30, i.e., 30 minutes. This requires double plasterboard/double drywall. This means that it is fine with single plasterboard on both sides of the wall/ceiling. If you have plasterboard in the garage, then single plasterboard in your attic apartment is sufficient.
