Hello

I hope the question ended up in the right place. Admin can move it to the correct forum section otherwise...

I am going to add tiles to a part of the kitchen wall, approximately 60 x 50 cm, to provide better protection than the wallpaper we have had there since the kitchen was renovated. I have removed the wallpaper where the tiles will be placed. The wall is a non-load-bearing, pre-fabricated interior wall from the 70s, consisting of an MDF board on studs. In other words, not the sturdiest wall...

My thought is to glue the tiles, but I am unsure about which adhesive to use. I initially considered construction adhesive, like PL600, but then I found Tile Adhesive. Which of these do you think would work best? Or is there an even better way to put up the tiles on the wall without them falling down?

Best regards, Moribusken

Bare kitchen wall section with removed wallpaper, next to a tiled backsplash and countertop, illuminated by overhead lighting. Bostik 4000 Tile Adhesive Paste 1 kg container for kitchen wall tiling, recommended for non-load-bearing MDF walls. Montage glue PL600 300 ml tube with green label, used for high-grip mounting, suitable for adhering tiles to surfaces like MDF walls.

PL600 will work fine. Good luck!

the price makes the 1kg bucket the best =) in my opinion

A bit unsure about how much is needed, but 3 PL600s are roughly the same price as the bucket of tile adhesive.

Without having used tile adhesive, my guess is that the tile holds better with PL600...?

Well, you can apply the adhesive in many different ways... on the edges and in the middle... zigzag all over if you're using a tube and it's not always 100% level.

But the idea with the bucket and a notched trowel is that you spread it as you normally would with tile grout.

But there are as many ways as there are carpenters in the world =)

I have successfully used tile adhesive on surfaces that are not completely stable…

Tile adhesive all days of the week, works like any other fix, but adheres better, can be used on existing tiles. Setting glue will just become awkwardly sticky and hard to adjust.
