Attaching studs to asbestos cement?

Hello

I am going to frame and add insulation to a wall with fiber cement panels.
What is the best way to attach the studs? I assume the fiber cement will crack when nailing the studs, but perhaps I can screw them in?
Maybe even pre-drill first and then screw, in that case, what type of drill bit should be used?

All tips are gratefully received.

screw without pre-drilling, that's what I did last time anyway. if the Eternit cracks a little, it doesn't really matter.

What were you working on, regular wood screw? Dimension?

Do you have any air gap between the cement sheets and the wall behind them?
I suspect you do, and in that case, adding extra insulation on top of the cement sheets helps very little.

On some older wooden houses, the facade battens were removed, a layer of impregnated paper was nailed onto the underlying boards, and then the fiber cement was added.
If that is the case, you probably have an air gap under the boards.
Regardless, you get much better results if you remove everything down to any plank wall. It also looks much nicer at the base and eaves.
