Attaching rough posts to patio roof

I'm going to attach two 150mm thick rough posts for a patio roof. But how the heck do I secure them in the ground? Can you make your own "wide" foundation tubes, or are there ones available for 150mm post anchors?!

There are certainly thicker casting tubes than 150 mm, such as 200. Otherwise, it's not a big problem to use something suitable, like a couple of buckets. Dig the holes fairly tight and use a form for just the top 30 cm so it looks nice.
Personally, I think it looks best if you also embed the post brackets into the posts, then you get a little extra leeway. On the other hand, it's another step that can go wrong if you're not experienced...

Thanks, I will try to concrete in buckets. Do you mean I should dig tightly to avoid having to fill in with so much gravel/chippings?!
You can dig a large hole, but then it takes an unnecessarily large amount of concrete, which becomes both expensive and laborious if mixed by hand...

Is it possible to make a mold with boards directly in the hole? Where you let the boards remain, like? Then maybe I need to heavily treat the wood?!
No, that's how it's usually done underwater. The timber lasts as long as it lasts, it's the concrete that provides the strength. Screw the top part of the form from the outside if you don't want half-rotten timber there in a few years. You don't need very thick timber either, think about the cardboard tubes you plan to cast in, it's all about keeping soil out of the concrete and getting a nice top surface.
