I'm currently building with a ridge beam but am unsure how I should connect the ridge beam and rafters.
Looking at byggbeskrivningar.se and their "Attefallshuset," it looks like this:
They have chosen to notch the rafter so that it fits well into the joist hanger. Does this also apply to a steeper roof angle of 45 degrees?
The alternative I see is to cut a wedge and place it in the joist hanger, then put the 220 on top. Less contact area in the joist hanger, but no point of weakness at the top.
What I know about wood construction is less than what I know about steel, but the obvious counterargument to my idea is probably that it doesn't significantly affect stability with a notch on the end.
Did you get any wiser about this? I'm in a similar situation and also wondering how I should attach at the ridge
I have oversized the rafters quite a bit, so it felt completely fine to notch them. As mentioned, the sketch is from Svenskt Trä, so it feels completely fine despite the steeper roof angle.
