We have a panel of 22*170 with 22*45 battens.
When I now need to attach a 45*95 beam to the facade to create a mounting point for a railing, it ends up in the middle of a batten. The question is whether I should attach it on top of the batten or cut the batten and attach the beam directly to the 22*170?
It's a disadvantage to cut the batten since this is in the middle of the facade (balcony) and thus there will be a gap between the batten and where the post will be.

The question is really whether it will look very strange with a post on top of the batten since there will be a 22 mm gap between the panel boards and the post?
Or should I cut a 22 mm strip of panel so it visually appears that the post/beam is 67*95?

Split a strip as you say at the bottom.
This will prevent moisture from penetrating the facade.
Just make sure that it is not sealed at the top between the stud, strip, and facade.

Yes, that was the solution.
But I don't understand what you mean by not sealing? Do you mean it should allow air circulation or?
If so, it was half right, because there's a gap at the top on one side but not the other. We'll evaluate in 10 years... ;)
