Hello! I have a lightweight concrete house that needs almost all the walls in the basement replastered. The plaster is very brittle and crumbles easily when touched. So I thought it's best to redo this now, as the plaster is over 60 years old.

I'm terrible at plastering in the small amount I've tried so far, so I've acquired leveling battens in electro-galvanized metal that I plan to leave on the wall along with the plaster.

But now I want a very simple way to attach the leveling battens to the wall so it's straight and even before I start plastering. It will most likely be several weeks before I start plastering after I've put up the battens.

So what can I use to attach them simply and straight so they can stay before plastering and actually integrate with the plaster later on?

If I use plaster mesh, should it be behind the leveling battens or should the mesh be cut "between" the leveling battens?

I would rather avoid using strings of regular plaster to attach them, as that rarely works out well for me.

Grateful for advice

Oh, I really have no idea about this.

Lightweight concrete? Laser level and nail into them?

Following the thread 😅👍🤔

I've seen how it's done, but I can't fix it very well myself. Apply a string of plaster, then bring out the long level and press it into place vertically, done...

Shims behind to make it straight and lightweight concrete screws to fasten them
