Attaching Gypsum to Chimney?
Hello,
I'm in the process of installing renovation plasterboard (6mm) in the bedroom. The chimney breast comes up on one wall, how do I attach the plasterboard to it?
The chimney is not in use today, and when a stove is installed, there will be a liner in the chimney. The chimney sweep confirmed that it is okay to clad the chimney breast with plasterboard.
I tried with PL600 today, but it didn't work. It adhered to the plasterboard but not to the wall. The old wallpaper is gone but there is some thin material left that is stuck to the plastered chimney breast.
Any tips?

Okay, and does it adhere to both the chimney and the material that the wallpaper has been attached to?

I wonder if it doesn't work with 600, why would it work with 400? Isn't 600 stronger? Or are these two completely different?
That was really expensive, 1200:- for a bag. I only need it for one sheet..N Nils82 said:
Already tried unfortunately.. that's exactly how it came over, with a 120cm board. But then it becomes difficult to make a connection to the door frame.V Villa1949 said:

Okay, I'll try this. I'll try to remove as much as possible so the chimney stack comes through. Do you think I need primer?Thyro89 said:
A thought... It's called gypsum adhesive, but how does the drywall handle the moisture really? They are so sensitive to water, and adhesive is quite wet when properly mixed?
I don't know how to answer that question, but I have a question in response. How is it that the painter can both spackle and paint directly on drywall? There's moisture in both of those things tooV Villapark said:
