Hello,

I'm in the process of installing renovation plasterboard (6mm) in the bedroom. The chimney breast comes up on one wall, how do I attach the plasterboard to it?
The chimney is not in use today, and when a stove is installed, there will be a liner in the chimney. The chimney sweep confirmed that it is okay to clad the chimney breast with plasterboard.

I tried with PL600 today, but it didn't work. It adhered to the plasterboard but not to the wall. The old wallpaper is gone but there is some thin material left that is stuck to the plastered chimney breast.

Any tips?

There are gipsbruk that you use for the purpose.

I would have probably tried PL400, but I don't know if there is any difference between them.

Thanks for the reply!
Okay, and does it adhere to both the chimney and the material that the wallpaper has been attached to?

I wonder if it doesn't work with 600, why would it work with 400? Isn't 600 stronger? Or are these two completely different?

That was really expensive, 1200:- for a bag. I only need it for one sheet..

How wide is the chimney? Can't you place a plasterboard over the entire thing and attach right next to it on both sides of the chimney?

Already tried unfortunately.. that's exactly how it came over, with a 120cm board. But then it becomes difficult to make a connection to the door frame.

ok in the worst case, maybe lay it horizontally.. and two in height. But of course, it's easier with glue if you can manage it.

Lay the gipsin down so you can screw on both sides. Reinforce with 2-3 strings of adhesive in the middle and at the joint with a thin masonite behind.

Scrape clean as best as you can, buy gipsvruk and apply generous blobs on the back of the board and press it against the chimney.

Okay, I'll try this. I'll try to remove as much as possible so the chimney stack comes through. Do you think I need primer?

A thought... It's called gypsum adhesive, but how does the drywall handle the moisture really? They are so sensitive to water, and adhesive is quite wet when properly mixed?

Good idea, Why is a fiberboard needed behind the plasterboard?

As others say, plaster is perfect for this. Cheap and easy to use.

Also perfect as filler for slightly larger holes.

One of the top-3 tips I've received on byggahus.

I don't know how to answer that question, but I have a question in response. How is it that the painter can both spackle and paint directly on drywall? There's moisture in both of those things too ;)
