Hello! I have a loft bed without a ladder, intended for visiting children. I would like to put climbing holds on the wall next to it so they can climb up to the bed, which seems more fun than a regular ladder.
The climbing holds available for purchase I find quite unattractive, so I thought I would simply put up pieces of wood instead. It's only 1.60 meters high, so it's not a long climb. The wall is a timber wall. The question is how the holds should be fastened? Can I just use a sturdy screw? The bed is intended for children, so let's say a maximum weight of about... 50 kg?

Two screws are probably good, so they don't twist.
I have installed ugly commercial holds like that. I used 5mm screws 100 or 120mm if I remember correctly. It is significantly over-dimensioned.
Previously, I have mounted wooden holds on a wall with OSB behind plaster. Then I used clearly thinner screws. I wonder if it wasn't regular anchor screws then. But they were quite small holds.
