Hello!

How is a glulam beam (56x225) best attached to a glulam post (90x90) in the best way?

I was thinking of notching out 56mm on the posts and resting the beam on them. On one side post, an end beam will be attached, so I will notch out in that direction as well. Will it be too thin to attach (34mm left on the post)?

Which screws should I use? I would prefer to avoid fittings.

Do as you plan. In the corner, they will still be sturdy when you screw together the glulam beams. The piece that remains 34x34 is enough to hold it in place.

When you screw through 34mm and into the glulam, a screw 80x6 is suitable. Maybe 4 per point. Pre-drill so it doesn’t crack.

To screw the beams together in the corner, something more robust is required as it doesn't grip that well in the ends. There I would place 4 screws of 140x6 or three of 140x8. Perhaps pre-drill here in the first beam as well. It's much easier to get it right then.

Thank you for the response!

What type of screw would you have used? There are a multitude of different variants and I want the one that works best.
