Attaching a wooden batten to a plasterboard wall

Hello,
I am installing ceiling paneling in the attic and have an inner corner against a drywall.
Where the drywall and ceiling paneling meet, I have nothing to attach the ceiling paneling to.
I want to place a 1x1 batten on the drywall behind the wood paneling so I can attach the paneling there.

Is it possible to do so?

Glue or screws?
